The differences between Chinese and Western medicine can be compared to
a macro and micro economy model. Chinese studies the big view and how
the Chi flow is interconnected with nature changes. In the macro
economy, the government makes the monetary policy, and the people don't
see the money flow but it invisibly radiates down to the people making
a sound economy. Similarly, in Chinese medicine, the Chi flows
throughout the body, if it gets disturbed, someone will get sick.
Chinese medicine takes a bigger view, and has a more holistic approach
to medicine. Chinese medicine is based on philosophy, culture, Yin and
Yang theory, Chi and blood flow..
Western medicine studies the detail to find out the cause. Like how
people in the economy will count money dollar by dollar. They can see
the money and value it. They can tell when money is missing. Similarly,
Western medicine can tell when something is wrong with a specific
structure of the body - from cells to DNA...therefore, it treats the
human body like a machine. But in Western medicine, it is hard to feel
the Chi.
